• Chester Regatta is thought to be the oldest rowing regatta for club entries in the world. “The Field” magazine of 11 August 1883 refers to a local print of Chester Regatta dated 1733, making it 100 years older than the Boat Race (1829) and Henley Royal Regatta (1839). It is a City regatta, run by volunteers drawn from all the Chester rowing clubs (Royal Chester RC,Grosvenor Rowing Club, The King's School Chester Boat Club, Queens Park High School Rowing Club and Rex RC).
